Dr. Irwin H. Roberts specialized in large animal external parasite research for the USDA from the late 1930s to 1976. The agency's Meritorious Service Award in 1952 recognized his work leading to the control of scabies. Roberts served as director of the USDA parasite research laboratory in Albuquerque, NM, from 1962 until his retirement in 1976.
