Combining a wide range of materials including faculty and staff records, department histories, correspondence, faculty and staff obituaries, notebooks, transcripts, scrapbooks, photographs, one blueprint and sketch, one manuscript, publications, reports, newsletters, playbills, and ephemera, the collection touches on various topics related to the faculty and staff at Colorado State University (CSU).

Abstract

The Records of the Faculty is an aggregation of items acquired from many different sources. Combining a wide range of materials including faculty and staff records, department histories, correspondence, faculty and staff obituaries, notebooks, transcripts, scrapbooks, photographs, one blueprint and sketch, one manuscript, publications, reports, newsletters, playbills, and ephemera, the collection touches on various topics related to the faculty and staff at Colorado State University as well as university operations. Two files in the collection are restricted.

Arrangement

The materials in the collection have been arranged into series primarily by material type.

The collection consists of six series in 6 record cartons, 5 document cases, and 7 flat folders:

Series 1: Faculty records, 1881-1981 and undated

Subseries 1.1: Faculty and staff records, 1881-1976 and undated

Subseries 1.2: Faculty Council records, 1922-1981 and undated

Subseries 1.3: Faculty and staff committees and organizations, 1907-1977 and undated

Subseries 1.4: Policies and manuals, 1908-1971 and undated

Series 2: Subject files, circa 1890-1972 and undated

Series 3: Publications, 1909-1971

Series 4: Scrapbooks, 1937-1971 and undated

Series 5: Visual materials, 1901-1903, 1916 and undated

Series 6: Ephemera, 1930

Acquisition

The Records of the Faculty was transferred at various times from individual faculty members and campus departments.

Processing

Processing was completed in March 2017. Records indicate that finding aids were completed in 1983 and 1996; however, much of the material was removed at an unknown point in time, and the collection was not processed in an archival method. Materials were rehoused in acid-free folders and boxes. Items were removed from binders and framed items were removed from frames. Staples, binder clips, and paper clips were removed and replaced with plastic clips as necessary. Photographs were placed in protective sleeves, a filmstrip was rehoused in an archival container, and scrapbooks and artifacts were stabilized. Duplicates were removed as were some publications and papers unrelated to the collection. Index cards of faculty publications were also removed.
