Nixon's job as head of Colorado Springs Utilities (1956-1973) involved administering water, sewer, gas, and electric utilities for the city. Nixon actively and successfully pursued transmountain water supply sources during his time with Colorado Springs Utilities. A few documents in the subseries highlight the Homestake Project, a joint reservoir and water delivery venture by Aurora and Colorado Springs completed in 1967.
