Scope and Contents
The Records of Student Activities consists of documents dated 1886 to 1970, with the bulk falling from 1940 to 1950. The collection documents activities available to students at Colorado State University, including social and athletic clubs, fraternities and sororities, and academic clubs. Materials include constitutions and bylaws, booklets and handbooks, meeting and event information, membership information, correspondence, and photographs.

The first student group on campus of the Colorado Agricultural College (now Colorado State University) was the Philosophian Literary Society, a debate society founded in November 1879 for male students. Later, an equivalent group for women students, the Aesthesian Society, was founded. Over the years, students have been able to participate in various on-campus and off-campus groups and activities, including social and athletic clubs, academic groups, fraternities and sororities, and intramural sports.

Extra-curricular student activities on the campus of Colorado State University first began in November 1879 with the establishment of the Philosophian Literary Society.
