Abstract
Organized by English professor Alfred R. Westfall in 1915, the Scribblers Club was comprised of students and faculty who gathered to write poetry, plays, short stories, and articles. Student membership was limited to twelve and membership was granted based on the merit of their literary submissions. Club meetings were held at various homes, usually those of faculty members, and would include readings of members’ writings or of other literary works. Student compositions were occasionally featured in the college newspaper, the Rocky Mountain Collegian. The date the Scribblers Club disbanded is uncertain; no mention of the club’s activities appeared in the Collegian after 1941. The collection consists of the club’s financial records and constitution, correspondence, news clippings, and students’ writings.
