Scope and Contents

Records of the Vice President for University Operations consists of documents dated 1942 to 2009, with the bulk falling from 1994 to 2003. While the collection’s materials address a wide variety of topics, university finance and budgets comprise a significant portion of the collection, including Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) minutes and audits, internal audits, and college and departmental reviews. Other common topics include legislative reports, CSU Foundation meeting agendas, athletic budgets, and campus facility reports. University publications are common. The collection also contains materials concerning units not overseen by VPUO, such as minutes of the Board of Governors, and CSU’s Classified Personnel Council and Administrative Professionals Council.

Biographical / Historical

Colorado State University’s Vice President for University Operations (VPUO) is the successor to the Vice President for Administrative Services. The renaming took place in 2010. Amy L. Parsons served as the office’s first VPUO, Lynn Johnson the second, and Brendan Hanlon the current. While the office evolved from previous administrative units, most duties of the VPUO have been carried out since the inception of the University. The VPUO currently serves as CSU’s chief financial officer and oversees university finance and budgets, facilities, procurement human resources, talent development, parking, mail, risk management, the Office of Equal Opportunity, and the Office of the Ombuds.

Abstract

Renamed in 2010, Colorado State University’s Vice President for University Operations (VPUO) is the successor to the Vice President for Administrative Services and serves as the university’s chief financial officer. The collection includes budgets, committee materials, meeting minutes, correspondence, and reports related to planning and daily operations at the university from 1980 through 2003. Materials are arranged in the order in which they were received, which is roughly chronologically by topic.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Records of the Vice President for University Operations was transferred to the Colorado State University Archives by Office of Vice President for University Operations in 2010.
