History

The mission of the Alumni Association at Colorado State University (CSU) is to advance the university by developing and strengthening lifelong relationships between alumni and the university community, benefiting current and future alumni and friends, and serving as a catalyst for communications and involvement. The association's core values include pride, tradition, diversity, and relationships.

The Alumni Association can trace its founding to 1884 when the first three graduates from the State Agricultural College (now Colorado State University) were presented with the constitution and bylaws by then college president Charles L. Ingersoll. The three, George H. Glover, Libby Coy, and Leonidas Loomis, formed the governing body of the fledging association and began organizing annual alumni events and encouraging alumni to participate in university activities. In 1934, Glover, Coy, and Loomis became the first "50 Year Club" members.

Today, the CSU Alumni Association counts over 180,000 active alumni, and is involved in hundreds of events every year, both on the CSU campus and around the nation. One of the biggest events of the year is Homecoming and Family Weekend. The Alumni Association also manages CAM the Ram, and the Ram Handlers - student volunteers who see to CAM's care.
