History

The Administrative Management Society (AMS) is an international non-profit organization founded in 1919. Chapters of the AMS exist in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean with membership throughout the world. The society is dedicated to the improvement of administrative management and providing a professional accreditation service for administrative managers to establish certified administrative managers with "experience, character, and leadership ability." The college chapters of the Administrative Management Society seek to "enhance understanding between business and education" by bringing professionals, educators, and students together. Students enrolled in business courses at accredited colleges or universities are sponsored by senior chapters consisting of local business members. Senior chapters provide opportunities for close working relationships between students and the business community. The Colorado State University chapter of the Administrative Management Society was established in 1972 and sponsored by the senior AMS chapter in Denver.
