The Student Outdoor Clubs Collection consists of documents dated 1943 to 1999, with the bulk falling from 1948 to 1972. The collection contains scrapbooks, publications, newspapers clippings, rosters, schedules, and reports of various student outdoor clubs at Colorado State University. Groups represented in the collection include the Mountaineering Club, Hikers Club, Outing Club, and Conservation Club.

History

Student groups were formally organized in the late 1890s, and outdoor clubs first appeared in the 1920s. Over the years a number of clubs focusing on hiking, rafting, mountaineering, conservation, and biking were established for students at Colorado State University.

Acquisition

The Student Outdoor Clubs Collection was donated by Paul Habey on April 29, 2010. A later accrual to the collection was donated by Lynnette Langdon in June 2023.
