History

The University Trailer Court Association began in 1947 as the Colorado A & M Trailer Association by a group of married students who wanted to establish economical housing options. The association was incorporated as a non-profit body in 1966. The association handled matters pertaining to trailers (leased, vacant, or for sale), side rooms (sheds), maintenance, and pets on the court property. The association leased the land off Lake Street on the Colorado State University campus from the State Board of Agriculture (now Board of Governors) for $1 a year. At the January 24, 1973 meeting, the State Board of Agriculture decided to terminate the lease and close the trailer court in January 1974. Negotiations between the Board and the association kept the court open until 1976.
