The Photographs of Alton Sanderson consists of photographs dated 1923. The photographs depict forestry students working at Pingree Park, now the Colorado State University Mountain Campus, and include images of students working on water flumes, pulling stumps, a sawmill, the ranger station, and hauling logs.

Biography

Alton Sanderson was an alumni of Colorado Agricultural College, graduating in 1925. After graduation he worked as a forest ranger in the Colorado mountains.

Alton Sanderson was born in Griffin, Texas, on September 18, 1898. He moved to Colorado when he was 17 and enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving during World War I. After the war, he married Veta Grace Hinkley and had six children. Sanderson returned to Texas to attend Texas A&M, but the family moved back to Colorado and he finished his education at Colorado Agricultural College (CAC), earning his degree in forestry in 1925. Alton Sanderson died in Denver, Colorado on November 18, 1988.
