History
The honors program at Colorado State University was first discussed during a local AAUP (American Association of University Professors) meeting in 1954. Dean Andrew Clark appointed an Honors Committee which spent two years discussing possible implementation and support for an honors program. A formal recommendation was made and an experimental honors colloquium was offered for the 1957 winter term. The members of the Honors Committee selected the 15 students who participated in the colloquium. The course was deemed a success and a formal honors program was approved by the Faculty Council, with Professor Willard Eddy as its director.
