Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series includes histories and information on particular families and Russian areas settled by Germans. Areas include the Dönhof, Kutter, and Walter colonies, and the Dietel, Frank, Franzfeld, Kautz, Jagodnaja Poljana, Norka, Volga, and Zhirnovsk areas. The series also includes information on Glen Haven, Colorado; Russell County, Kansas; Laurel, Montana; and Whitman County, Washington, areas where a number of Russian Germans settled after immigrating to the United States. Specific families include the Deines' and the Koehler's of Kansas. It also contains an extensive name index created by the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and information collected around a variety of families. Materials include copies of articles and publications, newsletters, print outs of name and birth records, naturalization records, copies of genealogical research, obituaries, and an aerial map of the Volga region.
