China, 1977-1994
Scope and Contents
This subseries contains materials from Nordin's consulting work on Chinese rivers. Nordin was one of eleven hydraulic engineers invited by the Chinese Society of Hydraulic Engineers to advise the People's Republic of China on flood and sediment control problems on the Yellow River just as relations between the two countries were beginning to thaw in the 1970s. The rest of the material in this subseries concerns Nordin's work for the World Bank as a consultant for the Three Gorges Dam project feasibility study in the 1990s. Materials include notes, correspondence, reports, reference material, photographs and slides, and maps. Topics include river sedimentation and scour, silting behind dams, and sediment measurement. Materials have no particular order.
