Abstract The Colorado Potato Growers Exchange (CPGE) was formed in 1923 to eliminate speculation and waste in the marketing of potatoes. Twenty separate groups banded together as a central statewide selling agency. The CPGE stabilized the potato market so effectively that it later added onions (1928) and pinto beans (1968) to its operations.
