Scope and Contents From the Sub-Series: In the early 1920s, an oil boom occurred north of Fort Collins. Having oil-rich lands, NPIC established, as the trustee, the North Poudre Oil and Gas Royalty Units Trust with the purpose of leasing its lands for the production of oil and gas. The trust authorized 500,000 units beginning in 1925 and paid dividends over the years to shareholders, though NPIC retained more than 90 percent ownership. The trust was terminated in 1978.
