The diaries here were written by three people: Leroy S. Carpenter, Michael J. Hogarty, and Sarah Carr Hogarty. The most extensive diaries are Leroy's, documenting 65 of his 84 years, though with some significant gaps. The longest gap is the 10-year period during which he moved to the Union Colony, established a home, got married and became a father.
