Papers of Howard H. Stonaker
Abstract
Howard H. "Stony" Stonaker, professor of Animal Sciences for many decades at Colorado State University, shaped the lives of many students who became leaders in animal agriculture. Stonaker's research efforts led to the development of inbred cattle lines, and his pioneering efforts in performance-testing and introducing the first selection index for beef cattle significantly impacted the industry. The collection includes correspondence, publications, photographic materials, reports, and subject files related to the animal sciences, especially cattle research but also including hogs, poultry, and other domestic animals.
