Identifier: Subseries 6.2

Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

This subseries contains documentation of Longenbaugh’s extensive involvement in South Platte Basin groundwater issues, especially from the last 20 years of his life. This is a time when drought, changes in water law, and statewide water planning had serious impact on groundwater use and regulation. Longenbaugh participated in the South Platte Basin Roundtable and its Ground Water Technical Committee as well as other groups and projects. Investigating issues of high groundwater in the LaSalle and Gilcrest communities was a significant project. He was actively involved in shaping legislation as well as giving presentations to legislators and other groups. He also worked with John C. Halepaska and Associates to produce a report related to the South Platte for the Weld County Farm Bureau. Much of Longenbaugh's South Platte work intermingled and overlapped, so unfiled materials could not be cleanly categorized. Files have been arranged alphabetically by title overall, followed by sections for data, resources, and presentations, at the end, each also arranged alphabetically by title. Additional material types include correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, photographs, and digital media.
