Wyoming, 1952-1967
Scope and Contents
The slides in this series relate to the professional and personal life of Ival Goslin. The bulk of the slides contain images of various landscapes, dams, rivers, and lakes. Large numbers of slides consist of the Lake Powell area (Utah), including Glen Canyon Dam and Rainbow Bridge. Slides for a speech pertaining to Rainbow Bridge are separated and remain arranged as found. Other locations with a significant amount of slides include Twin Falls, American Falls, and Shoshone Falls in Idaho, and vacation slides from Australia and New Zealand. Also, there are slides of Ival Goslin, his wife Marcelyn, family and friends. A few slides depict John F. Kennedy, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra. Most of the 2,088 slides were taken by Ival Goslin and are individually labeled and dated.
The slides are grouped by location, with states arranged alphabetically, followed by an unidentified location category and an Australia & New Zealand category. To facilitate categorization, some locations include slides from another state. For example, the Utah category holds two slides taken near Alpine, Wyoming, near the Palisades Dam project in Utah. Slides showing dams on state borders were placed with the state containing the most relevant or bulk of slides. Slides of Imperial Dam and Parker Dam, both on the California-Arizona border, were placed in the Arizona category. Slides of Morelos Dam, on the Arizona-Mexico border, were placed in the Arizona category. Slides of Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona were placed with the Lake Powell slides in the Utah category.
