Office files, 1919-2006 and undated
Scope and Contents
This series contains the bulk of Ray E. Stanford's correspondence, photographs, memos, newsletters, catalogs, pamphlets, notes, references, data, reports, maps, manuscripts, papers, and conference-related documentation. Stanford corresponded with numerous people and organizations on a variety of topics related to lepidoptera. Much of the correspondence by Ray Stanford was written under the heading of the Western Lepidoptera Study Group and related to seasonal data gathering or research related to the Western Butterfly Atlas with Paul Opler or the taxonomy of North American skippers hesperioidea. He also wrote correspondence for the Lepidopterists' Society under the various roles he served. Some of the correspondence was filed in an orderly manner and some was loose throughout the collection, causing the creation of subseries as material was found in 2017.
