Fort Collins data, 1976-2019

 Sub-Series
Identifier: Subseries 2.2

Scope and Contents

This subseries consists mainly of Mountain States Weather Services observation sheets that record hourly weather information for Fort Collins, Colorado. Observation sheets labeled MSWS Observatory contain data observed at the residence of Jim Wirshborn, while those labeled only Fort Collins may indicate the Colorado State University campus. Other materials include spotters reports, National Weather Service announcements, Surface Aviation Observations, and other miscellaneous weather forms. A few newspaper clippings are present as well. Most materials were removed from binders and kept in the original chronological order according to year and month. Some miscellaneous folders spanning the years 1978-1981 contain hydrothermograph charts as well as other forms of weather observations; these were arranged chronologically by year and month and integrated at the end of the corresponding year. This subseries also contains information about the 1997 Fort Collins flood, including publications, correspondence, Doppler printouts, floppy disks, rainfall maps, storm reports, and National Weather Service announcements. This folder was placed at the end of 1997. A digital-only Climatological Record Book is available online and is listed at the end of this subseries.
