1803-36. Draft EIS 01/04, 2003-2004

 File — Box: 64, Folder: 11
Identifier: Series 3

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series contains materials relating to Pitts' work to resolve issues between state water law, interstate compacts, and endangered species efforts on the Platte River. Pitts served as project coordinator for negotiations on the Platte River on behalf of Colorado water users; species of concern consisted of the whooping crane, the piping plover, the least tern, and the pallid sturgeon. Files relating to various committees on which Pitts served for this project are also present, including substantial amounts relating to the Platte River Biological Subcommittee and the Platte River Hydrology Subcommittee. Topics include water law, water rights negotiations, water quality, endangered species rehabilitation, the Federal Endangered Species Act, relations with water users, and water management. Files retain the order and numbering created by Pitts, which groups a mix of committees, issues, and activities under an 1803 category with further subcategorization. Materials include correspondence, progress reports, task reports, meeting minutes, publications, and court rulings. See Series 1 for Executive Committee files and Series 6 for correspondence files.
