This was Wood's primary field, and the subjects in these files featured prominently in his professional work. The subseries also includes nearly comprehensive runs of Nature and Resources (1965-1971), Arid Zone (1958-1964), and The Johnson National Drillers Journal (1940-1958). Arrangement is according to Wood's "Reference material filing key," which is a numbered alphabetical list, with related folders not noted in the filing key interfiled alphabetically by folder title.
