Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

Albertson taught civil engineering and other courses at Colorado State University beginning in 1947. The materials here give a good sense of his teaching methods and assignments as well as the evolution of courses offered at CSU, especially in hydraulics. The course best represented in this subseries is CE712, Hydraulic Structures Design. A special feature of Albertson's classes was field trips to examine various water structures and systems. Field trip reports written by students prove to be valuable examinations of Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska water features, primarily during the 1970s. Material types in this subseries include student reports, lecture notes, homework, handouts, brochures, maps, correspondence, and exams. Files are arranged by course number and typically either alphabetically or chronologically therein. Non-civil engineering courses are filed at the end, including two on reincarnation. Also at the end are teaching materials that do not relate to any course in particular, including some thesis and dissertation data. Some file contents may not appear to match the arrangement here, but course numbers changed over Albertson's tenure and he may or may not have changed file numbers correspondingly. Also, he may have used some materials in multiple classes. Course titles in the inventory also may not be accurate for all of the files represented, as course titles changed over time. All grade reports were removed from the files.
