Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series consists of original research, data, drafts, correspondence, and reports by USDA irrigation engineers and their collaborators. Folded maps, drawings, and blueprints can be found throughout the series, along with sets of photographs. Included is research by Ralph Parshall, Carl Rohwer, Victor M. Cone, William Code, and others, who worked on irrigation methods, equipment, and techniques, primarily in Colorado and especially the Cache la Poudre Basin. The team also collected data and information on water projects in Wyoming, Idaho, California, North Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, and other states. Additional subjects are groundwater research and snow surveys. The series contains conference materials as well. Files are arranged in their original numerical order as shown in the title numbering, with items from a secondary inventory of related files following. At the end of the series is a small set of files related mainly to the dedication ceremony honoring the Parshall flume as a historical landmark in agricultural engineering and the associated documents collected at the time. Some of these include copies of letters by Parshall as well as documentation about the flume. Also here are a few files related to groundwater wells.
