Contents of this subseries were largely acquired by Simons in his administrative role as associate dean of engineering research. Prominent are files related to the history of CSU and the department of civil engineering, as well as files related to the construction of the hydraulics laboratory and the dedication of the Engineering Research Center. Also significant are files concerning the Parshall Research Fund and self-evaluation committee reports for the departments of electrical (1971), mechanical (1972), and civil (1973) engineering. A few files also relate to visiting professors or scholars, or to research trips Simons took. Materials include clippings, brochures, correspondence, reports, publications, financial documents, and blueprints. Files are in alphabetical order.

Some files in Series 2, Subseries 2, Student files (boxes 2-3) are closed to everyone except the student named; however, access will be granted upon having written consent from the student or providing written proof that the student is deceased.
