Dedication of Mt. Elbert Power-plant, 1981
Scope and Contents
Photographs and negatives in this subseries depict significant professional and personal events in Nixon's life. Nixon is the subject, rather than the photographer, in most. The bulk depicts Nixon's work for Colorado Springs Department of Utilities and resulting honors--Homestake Reservoir construction, power plant dedications, aerial views of utilities facilities, official presentations and agreement signings, awards ceremonies, Nixon's retirement in 1973, and the Nixon Power Plant. Also present are images from ceremonies at which Nixon received awards from professional organizations. Approximately 30 negatives document the construction of a power plant in Trinidad, Colorado, constructed while Nixon ran the city's power and water utilities. Photographs from Nixon's 1957 trip to Pearl Harbor are also present. Materials are arranged alphabetically by folder title.
