Scope and Contents

This series consists of material related to Charles Robinson as well as other material related to Crow. Charles Robinson (1939-1967) attended CSU in the graduate program in English, receiving his master’s degree in 1967. While at CSU, he was the editor of Colorado State Review (now the Colorado Review) and was a graduate teaching assistant. Raised in Waseca, Minnesota, Robinson graduated from Mankato State College before coming to Colorado. Published works include poems and articles in the Colorado State Review, Northwest Review, Trace, and Denver Quarterly. Robinson died as a result of a car accident on August 16, 1967. Following Robinson's death, Crow intended to edit and publish a volume of his poetry. Materials include poetry by Robinson, biographical information, vitae, and correspondence between Crow, mutual friends, and Robinson’s mother, Margaret.

Materials not related to Robinson include project and course proposals and evaluations; a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant application for “Learning the Language of American Experience” and material associated with the program; contracts with Wesleyan University Press and Latin American Literary Review Press; a White Pine Institute contract for Vertical Poetry: Poems of Roberto Juarroz; a NEH offer letter for a Fellowship in Residence for College Teachers; material related to Crow’s involvement in the organization, American Professors for Peace in the Middle East; publication releases; and a salary equity request. Also present are copies of American Poetry Review, newspapers, newsletters, and newsclippings, most containing materials about Crow and associated programs. Folders containing grade reports and active Social Security numbers are restricted. Materials are arranged in their original order.
